18 Jul 2010 - 5:00pm

We're off to the fabulous Cotswold Wildlife Park. You can even become a Keeper for the day!

http://www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk/
Cotswold Wildlife Park is set in 160 acres of parkland and gardens around a listed Victorian Manor House and has been open to the public since 1970.

The Park is home to a fascinating and varied collection of mammals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates from all over the world and aspires to show animals to people - so that they can come to understand and respect all forms of wildlife; to understand what is special about each species, and how the various species have evolved over very long periods of time, adjusting to survive in habitats from many parts of the earth.

The Park offers a fascinating collection of animals. Many are endangered in the I.U.C.N.'s (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) Red Data Books; others are still relatively numerous in the wild, but offer an educational encounter of value.

Cotswold Wildlife Park is a member of EAZA (the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria). We share and exchange animals with other collections to further breeding programmes of conservation importance. Your visit helps to support this work.

Bovington Tanks

3 Jul 2010 - 12:00pm

We're off to the Tank Museum.

The tank was a British invention that changed warfare for ever when it was introduced in World War One – and Bovington has been the home of the tank ever since. From the Somme to Tiananmen Square or D-Day to Desert Storm the tank has played a part in shaping history – and it continues to do so today.

The Tank Museum is the only place where many of these rare and historic vehicles can be seen. Fresh from a £16m investment in new exhibitions & facilities, with almost 200 vehicles on display in 6 large halls, you will come face-to-face with tanks that have seen action in all the major wars of the 20th century.

SA Boating Holiday

11 Sep 2010 - 10:00am
18 Sep 2010 - 10:00am

Messing About On The River!

What better way to escape the rat race and have a leisurely break on a narrowboat. We've booked 2 barges (1 sleeps 12 but we're only filling it with 10, and the other sleeps 8 and only being filled with 6 persons so not to make things feel too cramped with people you may not know too well).

We plan a week on the canals taking in the glorious English countryside through Cheshire. There will be plenty of stops on the way and Bunbury just has so much to offer.

Cost per person for the week is £145 although you will need to pay for your transport to Bunbury Boatyard and home (car sharing may be possible) as well as food and drink.

This kind of English holiday is very enjoyable and once you have been once you will be itching to go again.

16 members (from Thatcham, Reading and Andover) are already booked in and there are just 3 spaces left on the 10 (12) sleeper narrowboat. Grab yours now!!!

If you are interested in going please contact Leo for more details or your Clubs Events/Activities Officer or Chair.
