The ever popular 17th annual Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre starts this Thursday for 4 days and is set to be the best yet
http://www.worcester.gov.uk/uploads/RTEmagicC_christmas_fayre.jpg.jpg
The Fayre has spread out this year and for the first time includes an International area in the High Street as well as a local arts, craft producer’s market in Friar Street and a dedicated Food Quarter in Cornmarket. Over 100,000 people are expected to attend the event which provides a massive boost to the local economy.
Organisers VisitWorcester have also promised more live street entertainment than ever before with over 60 performances including choirs, dance, a variety of singers, samba band, roving stiltwalkers, morris dancing, plays and jugglers. Over 140 stalls will be selling gifts as far ranging as wooden ties to model steam boats which run on a candle and there are also stalls selling food and drink. Along with the aroma of roast chestnuts and the warmth of mulled wine there will be something for all ages and tastes.
VisitWorcester’s Events Co-ordinator Nadja von Dahlen said ‘we have worked hard to ensure that this year’s event is high in quality with brand new stalls and great quality products. With the stalls and entertainment being more spread out we hope that many locals as well as those coming from further afield will venture into the city and sample the fantastic atmosphere that the event generates.’
House of Fraser Store Manager, Clem Fraser added 'we do fantastically well as a result of the Victorian Christmas Fayre. It is a great opportunity to see Worcester at its finest and it helps to put the city on the map.'
The event runs on Thursday between 4pm and 9pm with the opening ceremony at 5.30 in Cornmarket, on Friday between 11am and 9pm, Saturday 10am until 7pm, and Sunday 11am until 5pm.

"As this is a reunion, and a time to look back at the fun we've had over the last 24 years of WASH, I am trying to put together a "WASH Memories" board, with photos, and written memories. If anyone has anything they could contribute I would be grateful, either email me, or bring stuff during the event - I (hopefully) will have scanning capabilities if anyone has original photos they don't want to part with. This is something I can't do without help because obviously I am far to young to have photos of some of the earlier events!
Oh, and just a warning - if I don't get any contributions, I do have photos of "Adam and Eve", and I'm not afraid to use them......lol! !
Looking forward to it - not long to go now - see you there.

Well what can I say - had simply the best time at Brean again this year. Why am I so late writing this? because I've only just been woken up by the phone from a deep sleep - well deserved I think as I only just get my 8 hours sleep over the weekend (and thats over the whole weekend, not one night!!)
Distinct lack of caravan party on Saturday night, but we improvised, although sitting drinking tea is a touch more civilised than I am
used to.....!!!
Thought the murder mystery was excellent - although slightly nerve-racking for me! The script called for me to be holding a glass of
whisky which I usually don't drink, but it seemed to evaporate faster than it should under those stage lights!!!
Best/most memorable bits? Finally seeing people I haven't seen for sooooo long, singing at the caravan parties on Friday and Sunday (probably badly), murder mystery, Bishops Stortford's club's hospitality to a late-booker, cooking chilli for everyone on Friday night, crispy pizza on Saturday night! Someone, who shall remain nameless, managing to (accidentally apparently) pour baileys down the back of my skirt on Sunday night - and I still can't quite believe you actually finished drinking the bottle with breakfast on Monday - shame on you!
And to think, I nearly didn't go this year.....won' t make that mistake again!
