Southampton
Southampton Friends is a fab and friendly way to meet people in the area. If you are 18-35 years and live, study and or work in Southampton or the surrounding area and wish to expand your social life and make new friends by taking part in various activities then come and meet us one Wednesday and see what we are all about. Southampton Friends is run by its members for its members and is not-for-profit. We have 32 members from all sorts of backgrounds and professions.
We meet most Wednesdays at the Slug & Lettuce bar in Southampton fondly called our Club Night for a chilled out drink and chat. On the last week of the month we meet on a Thursday for our "Play Away" Club Night where we visit on rotation various cocktail/vodka bars and restaurants taking advantage of 2-4-1 offers in the city.
We have a fabulous calendar of events and our principle ethos is to have fun! We get up to all sorts from pubs, meals, clubs, comedy, theatre, cinema, bowling, badminton, gigs, festivals, museums, exhibitions, walks, DVD nights, singstar, Sunday lunches, in fact the list is endless. We are quite an adventurous group with Archery, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Go Ape, Zorbing, Playzone, Ringos, Water Sports, New Forest Cycling, Theme Parks, Karting, Beach BBQ and a Hog Roast in the Park on this years calendar too!
We are aware of the credit crunch and take advantage of 2-4-1 offers, which includes visits to theme parks, theatre, Orange Wednesday, and various restaurants and promotional cocktail nights in the bars in town. Moreover, from time to time we run a new members promotional month in March, "March Madness" where membership for new people to our club is at a discounted price as well as an Early Bird renewal scheme for members renewing on time, membership for the year works out at less than 60p a week.
Meeting new people for the first time can be daunting but we are a very relaxed chilled friendly group of people. The Echo newspaper have featured us and said we are "a charming set of people, who clearly go out of their way to make new people feel welcome, both to their group and to the city as a whole. Making friends isn't as difficult as some people might believe, you just have to know where to look" .
So, whether you are new to the City or if you've been here a while and if this all sounds good fun to you then please get in touch!

£8 for £25 worth of locally sourced Indian food, such as Lamb Pasanda, Chicken Tikka and other Old Delhi inspired classics at Rasraj - Save 68%
It is widely claimed that the classic curry dish, Chicken Tikka Masala was created for the leaders of the Mughal Empire, which ruled over a large part of India in the 1500s. Or if legend is to be believed, it was created in Glasgow back in the 1970s. Regardless of which theory you prefer to believe, Southampton' s Rasraj is the best place to dine like an Indian Mughal and with today's Groupon you can tuck in to a fantastic range of Old Delhi inspired classics for just £8. We recommend you try their take on the ever popular Onion Bhajiya (£2.95) or the Lamb Samosa (£3.50) before delving into one of their gorgeous mains. This is not just any ordinary Indian restaurant though, as they serve the fantastic Dal Makhani (£6.50) - cooked overnight in a charcoal oven, black lentils fuse with garlic, ginger and finished with butter and spices.
Rasraj pride themselves on being the only Indian restaurant in Southampton that promotes and uses locally sourced produce. They have also won the Mega Chef award, which has allowed them to build a reputation for innovative fusion cooking. Which is why you'll find such dishes as the fantastic Chicken Zyava (£7.95) - dark chocolate with tamarind, jazzed by fresh chilli and then soothed with a mellow creamy sauce. Get some Pilau Rice (£2.75) and Butter Naan (£2) and prepare to enjoy a great Indian meal.
