A Brief History of Solihull Plus

Solihull 18 Plus Opening Night March 1977March 1977

Solihull Plus opens at the Golden Lion, Warwick Road, Solihull by a development committee from Castle Bromwich 18 Plus. Les Ross of BRMB was the celebrity guest. The first night was so successful that it was quickly apparent that a larger venue was required.

Sometime later in 1977

Solihull Plus moves to the Civic Hall. Membership rose rapidly reaching nearly 200.

Early 1982

The Civic Hall was privatised and Solihull Plus was forced to look for another venue. They moved into the function room of the Masons Arms known as 'The Ship'. With attendances of over 80 every week this room was far to small so they looked again.

Three months later

Solihull Plus moves into Solihull Rugby Football Club, Sharmans Cross Road.

1985

After some bad feeling from the rugby club management Solihull Plus moves just a few yards up the road to Silhill Football Club.
